A Large Sleep (1978) was the 2nd flick version of Raymond Chandler's 1939 novel of the same title. It was directed by Michael Winner and starred Robert Mitchum as the detective Philip Marlowe. James Stewart appeared as General Sternwood. A action was placed around London, England rather than California. A picture show contained items that can merely become hinted at in the 1946 version such as homosexuality, pornography and nudity. the plot concerns General Sternwood hiring firm-boiled personal detective Marlowe when he is existence blackmailed by a gay porn merchant known as Arthur Geiger. A trail seems to lead to Charlotte & Carmilla Sternwood (played by Sarah Miles and Candy Clark respectively), the General's girl. Richard Boone appears as a fearsome torpedo.
